Electric System Condition Assessment - Oklahoma University Main & South Campus

Project Specifications:

In 2010 Corix Utilities entered into a long-term contract with the University of Oklahoma (OU) to privatize the utilities at OU’s Norman Campus with over 300 buildings (9,900,000 GSF) on the 1,770 acre (Main 1,500 acres; South 270 acres). Fosdick & Hilmer was retained by Corix to provide complete mechanical and electrical engineering services for the condition assessment and initial studies related to privatization and subsequent capital improvement projects for the utility systems.


Evaluation included two 138 kV / 12.47 kV substations and 43 miles of 12.47 kV, 5 kV and 2.4 kV distribution systems on Main Campus and Research Campus. Also included were the two central heat and power plants, and the four central cooling plants on the two adjacent campuses. The Main Campus has approximately 650 buses. Research Campus – South has a bus count of approximately 175.
